THE SZARVASKÚTI PINE FOREST

Szarvaskút-Váralja is also a popular hiking destination thanks to its large area of forest and the developed tourist trail network. You can go hiking close to the center of the city, around the Szarvaskúti Castle, but even outside the town's borders, in the pine forests and acacia trees interspersed with delightful clearings. To the city approx. one hundred and seventy hectares of forest area, there are large forests around the settlement in the northern and eastern directions. Mainly cherry and acacia forests, but there are also pine forests. There is also a pine forest on the eastern slopes of Várhegy in Szarvaskút, the main tree of which is Scots pine. Here, due to the falling needles, we can hardly talk about undergrowth, but even more so in the acacia tree. The forests around Szarvaskút also boast a rich fauna, rabbits, foxes, etc. live here, but deer have also been seen several times from the high ground on Várhegy. During the winter months, the Vértes Hegység Zrt. forest management places food for the animals in several places. In 1981, 2011, and 2017, the city government built tourist trails in the forests of Várhegy in the city, thereby supporting hikers. A new road was also created in 2012, when cars were banned from Mátyás király utca, which was renamed Vár utca.
